Mr. Sedric Rufus Franklin, was born to the union of the late Rufus and Dessie Session Franklin on July 1, 1952. On Monday, May 13, 2024, he entered into “Eternal Rest”.
Sedric was reared in the Mt. Haven Community where he attended grade school. He is a graduate of the Fred Douglas High School Class of 1970. After graduation, he attended Texas State Technical Institute, where he earned a certificate in meat processing. Sedric worked for CenterPoint Energy, formerly Entex, for 38 years before retiring ten years ago.
He was involved in the community serving as a member and past president of the Northside Community Association, as well as a member and past president of the Fred Douglas Alumni Association. In his spare time, Sedric enjoyed golfing, restoring and racing cars, tinkering in his man cave and spending time with his grandkids.
He united with Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church at a young age and remained a member until his death.
Sedric united in Holy Matrimony with Theresia White and they celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 10, 2024. To this union, two beautiful daughters were born, Shunda and Kim.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Dessie Franklin; and brother, Ferba Franklin.
To forever cherish his memory he leaves his loving wife, Theresia Franklin; daughters, Shunda Gray (Rodney) of Cypress, Texas and Kimberly Evans (Brodrick) of Tyler Texas; five grandchildren, Roderick, Nylah, Brayden, Blake, and Boston; brother, Stanley Franklin (Cheryl) of Tyler Texas; sister, Audria Battle (Danny) of Houston Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
