“ALIJAH’S LIFE JOURNEY”
Alijah Dequan Beckworth, was born on August 10, 2004, in Longview, Texas, to the parentage of Diana Hughes-Beckworth and Reginald Sherow.
Alijah accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and developed a love for music, at a young age; he began playing the drums at a tender age of ten years old. He was a great student and participated in track and field in Middle School and won multiple awards. He was an outstanding member of Longview High School choir and won First Division Solo-All Region, at White House School competition in 2021 and 2022. In addition to playing the drums, he was also a member of the Post Oak Male Chorus and the Youth Choir; he later became the Lead or Head Drummer at Pleasant Green Baptist Church and Zion Hill Baptist Church. He loved to use his gifts to serve the Lord and was always available to step in and help others, such as Harmony CME Church, The Federation of Choirs, and many more.
He entered his heavenly home on August 2, 2023; just one week prior to his 19th birthday, August 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross, Sr. and Effie
Hughes.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother, Diana Hughes-Beckworth; father, Reginald Sherow; brother, Alton Hughes; sister, Alicia Hughes; three uncles, Ross Jr., Devin, and Norbert Hughes; two aunts, Kristy Jackson and Detrach Hughes.; his Post Oak family, and a host of other family members and friends.
